A swap, start to finish.
No money changes hands. You trade your home for someone else's, and every accepted swap is insured. Here's exactly what happens, step by step.
- Step 1
List your home
Add your place with honest detail — photos, size, the dates you're happy to be away.
It's free. No listing fee, no subscription, no commission. Ever.
- Step 2
Find a match
Browse homes and filter by city, size, dates and amenities. We rank them by how well you fit each other.
A swap works when you'd each enjoy the other's home — at the same time, or on dates that suit you both.
- Step 3
Propose a swap
Send a proposal with your dates. The other host can accept, decline, or counter with different dates — you go back and forth until you agree.
Nothing is committed until both of you say yes. No money is requested at any point.
- Step 4
You're covered — automatically
The moment a swap is accepted, you're done negotiating and protected.
An insurance policy is issued instantly, covering both homes for those dates. Both hosts are ID-verified, and each of you gets private key-exchange codes.
- Step 5
Trade keys & travel
You stay in their home, they stay in yours. When the dates end, everyone goes home.
No money ever changes hands — it's a trade of keys, not a payment. That's the whole point.
Questions hosts ask before their first swap.
What if a swap partner damages my home?
Every accepted swap is automatically covered for property damage up to €150,000 — both directions, both homes. You don't opt in, fill a form, or pay a premium. If something breaks during the stay, file a claim through your dashboard and the policy handles repair or replacement.
How do you handle key exchange?
You and your swap partner pick what works for you: meet in person, hand keys to a neighbour, use a lockbox, or share a smart-lock code through swapl. We generate a one-time guest code for each swap so neither party shares a permanent credential.
Can I swap with someone whose dates don't overlap mine?
Yes. Non-simultaneous swaps (sometimes called "hospitality points") are coming after launch. You'll bank a stay at someone's home now and redeem yours back to them — or to a third member — later. At launch we start with same-week swaps because they're the safest to underwrite.
What about pets?
Filter for pet-friendly homes and you'll only see places whose owners welcome animals. Some hosts will also pet-sit yours during the swap. Insurance covers damage caused by guest pets exactly as it covers any other damage.
Do I have to be a swapl member to swap?
Both sides need to be members so we can verify identity, attach insurance, and process the agreement. Membership is free forever for the core swap; Plus and Pro add power-user tools (saved-search alerts, priority placement, listing analytics) but never gate the swap itself.
How is this different from Airbnb?
No money changes hands and nobody is a paying guest. You trade keys with another homeowner who wants your city while you want theirs. That alignment changes the dynamic — both sides are owners, both sides are guests, both sides have skin in the game.
Your home is worth a thousand trips.
We're collecting listings now — early access opens September 2026. Hosts who list before launch surface first.
